What is a Deckle Edge Paper?

Deckle paper are handmade 100% cotton papers carefully crafted by hand. Unlike normal papers with trimmed clean cut edges, the beauty of these papers are their uneven textures, ragged and feather edges.

To fully appreciate the artwork on Deckled Edge papers, I highly recommend to leave the borders visible. If you want to frame yourself, you can tell your framers to do double glass framing or floating framing.

What is a Floating frame?

For artwork on paper

"Floating" or a "floating" frame means that the artwork rests on  the mat and is not partially covered by the edges of the mat or  frame. If the artwork extends to the edge, or if it has a deckle or uneven edges, a floating frame is most practical.

This type of framing brings out the texture and shape of the paper and enhances the overall beauty of the artwork, making it look great on any wall.

For canvas

A floating frame for canvas means there is a gap between the frame and the canvas. This creates a buffer that protects the edges of the canvas. Visually more appealing and certainly elevates the look of the artwork!
